Never Again Moss Landing
“Neighbors for Safety. Voices for Justice. Advocates for Change.”
We envision a future where all communities are protected from preventable industrial disasters; where residents are heard, empowered, and respected; and where clean air and water, safe neighborhoods, and environmental justice are guaranteed for all.
WE ARE GUIDED BY THESE
CORE PRINCIPLES:
1. Community First– We prioritize the safety, health, and voice of our neighbors above all.
2. Independence– We act without ties to government, business, or political agendas.
3. Truth & Transparency– We seek and share verifiable information to inform and empower.
4. Urgency with Integrity– We act swiftly, rooted in compassion, fairness, and fact.
5. Environmental Stewardship– We advocate for long-term protections of our air, water, and land.
6. Volunteerism– We are driven by unpaid, committed individuals united for public good.
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED TO US:
On January 16, 2025, the Vistra Battery Energy Storage System (B.E.S.S.) fire at the Moss Landing power facility burned. This was the largest such facility in the world. The fire burned over 4,500,000 batteries, emitting upwards of 5,000 tons of Cobalt, Nickel, Lithium and Manganese into our environment. PVCs, PFASs and other toxins were also emitted in a plume that spread over thousands of acres and was inhaled by tens of thousands of residents. Thousands have gotten sick… hundreds seriously. Harmful acids have permeated the region’s air. Our environment has been despoiled.
Our scientifically validated sampling (see below) shows surface residue increases from less than 5 parts per billion (ppb) to as high as 690ppb. This is a mass-casualty event. And yet, with all the other goings on in our world, many remain unaware of this.
This website is designed to provide information and keep you informed. Thank you for caring about this incredibly consequential and needless disaster. Please read on to learn more, get connected, and assist us in our ongoing volunteer efforts.
Never Again Moss Landing is a Fast-response grass-roots all-volunteer resident group which advocates for our community’s voice and interests in response to the Moss Landing B.E.S.S. Fire.
We believe that a disaster like this must never again occur. We coordinate local citizen efforts to organize and deploy facts that can restore our community’s environment, health, and welfare.

SO…WHERE IS LAIRD???
Citizens Protested State Senator John Laird’s Disaster Absence
on Tuesday, March 25
12 Noon
in Santa Cruz
We had signs, shirts, and flyers for all who attended.
Families, friends, and concerned citizensspoke and yelled out to let Senator Laird know that the Moss Landing Fire and community disaster is NO JOKING MATTER! We demanded that State Senator Laird send the Calvary and get state resources here to help the victims of the VISTRA Moss Landing Chemical Inferno.
JOHN LAIRD IS OUR SENATOR NOT VISTRA’S!
