This is the link: SB 283 – Clean Energy Safety Act of 2025 – YouTube
Here is a link that shows donations to Laird and Addis from Tesla and Vistra. Note that Laird took money from both, but Addis only received money from Vistra and then returned it ~6 months later.
Second, there is the NFPA leadership, which has a few members that raise eyebrows:
Note that Christina Francis, is listed as “senior staff fire and regulatory specialist for Tesla”. It’s also strange to see an official of the government of the United Arab Emirates. Because the NFPA includes Tesla employees in its leadership, there are potential conflicts of interest in the following text from Laird’s bill:
This bill would require an application submitted to the Energy Commission in accordance with the above-described provisions relating to certification of facilities by the Energy Commission, and an application submitted to a local jurisdiction for an energy storage management system, to include the applicant’s certification that the facility has been designed in accordance with the NFPA 855, Standard for the Installation of Stationary Energy Storage System
In other words, this bill is proposing that local authorities will be directly using a standard created by a body that has leadership that is part of the regulated industry. Fox guarding the henhouse.
